All I'm saying is that if I bought 100 shares today and you shorted 100 shares today and we went to sleep for five years... Well, you get the idea.

Oh I'm scared. The only people who use AOL are those who don't know better. The short time I had AOL I couldn't download stock quotes and was constantly boombarded with advertisements. The future of the internet is browsers that delete all advertisements and keep personal information secret.

How ironic that you call AOL investors idiots, yet you complain about advertisements and stock quotes. Go look up the acronym PEBCAK and you'll know what I mean. The future of the internet will not delete all advertisements -- because the business model of the WWW will not allow it. Maybe you can think up a business model for TV that never shows an ad, and see how many channels or affiliates you sign up.

Personal information will never be a secret, end of story.

Getting back to the people that don't know better -- to turn off advertisments simply go to the marketing preferences menu, and adjust them accordingly. So simple ... yet so far for some.

Don't confuse your own opinion with reality.

S.

"The only people who use AOL are those who don't know better."

Your point is well taken as far as it goes, although the service has improved dramatically. What you're not taking into consideration is that the current and next waves of people going online are (and I don't mean to sound supercilious here, honestly) are the Joe Six-packs for whom AOL is not training wheels. Consider the over-60 set for whom AOL is easy and who have no desire to get the max out of the Web.

Yeah, we don't use AOL, we think people who use it are suckers, and we bitch like hell if the stock doesn't double every 30 days. As I have said before, "what a bunch of ingrates!"
