Rene, can I get a Unix server from Dell for my home PC?

My stupid illiterate bean counter here at home bought me
a P2-450, with Windows 98! But can I play Quake on a Unix
server?

This is a ridiculously one-sided point of view. Microsoft products generally lead because they are better than their competitors. Word and Excel are great examples of products that started off in second or third place in their spaces and ended up first, because they were better. They won technical awards and consumers rewarded the company.

Microsoft is increasingly a major innovator in computer science now. Take a look at how it is becoming the pre-eminent CS research institution in the world: research.microsoft.com

This part of MSFT will help ensure their leadership (and the stock price!) well into the next decade.

Rene, you may have some points about NT vs. Unix implementation, but to make the blanket comments you made is silly.

NT is a PIG and I hope the DOJ will take MS so much apart that bean counters will finally realize what a crock it is and start making decisions with their brain instead of based on empty marketing hype.

Toy is back!
