<<Under the deal, each share of Ascend will be converted into
0.825 shares of Lucent, valuing Ascend at $85.70 a share, or
about $18.5 billion, based on Wednesday's market prices. Based
on Lucent's closing price of $107.875 Tuesday, the deal is
worth about $20 billion. >>

It would seem that LU management anticipated a rise in ASND and a drop in LU, making the purchase right around the upper band of $84-$86 share. Do you all agree?

Ibexx, Can you elaborate on your reasoning for buying during the arbitrage between Lu and Asnd? If talks fall through, I understand it will give the stock a pop. I don't see the corrolation between Nscp and Aol. What good can come out from the arbitrage? Thanks in advance. Steve D.
