Well, I was under the impression that the 2-week shutdown is forced vacation. If you don't have the vacation time to take, you either go negative, or you take leave w/o pay. So it's not exactly a gift to their employees.

Do they really shut down the whole fab? I doubt it. I bet they just accumulate inventory through that period, and ship it out when everyone comes back from vacation.
