actually, canyngirl hit on it, and dropped the dime to the egrp thread...#reply-7251673

E-Trade of Palo Alto, Calif., has been one of the most aggressive in its quest to become a financial "destination site" on the World Wide Web. It has begun offering on-line mortgages through E-Loan Inc., credit cards through Bank One Corp.'s First USA unit, and insurance through InsWeb.

>>>M&I does not offer that service yet. But Mr. Hamm said he believes the company will have no trouble building a presentment service in time to meet increased demand.

"By the time our customers are ready, M&I will be ready," he said.<<<

"No trouble building a presentment..." Are they kidding! More than two years for CKFR and TP to get this far, so tomorrow they'll build Rome in a day. As for their customer's being ready, by the time their ready the customer will be gone.

"Terms of the deal undisclosed" No mention of stock, cash or anything, could be M&I took over at no cost or was even given cash to take it off Travelers hands, depends on how much customer service was eating into revenue. If ISC, SmartPay, PayMate or VI are any indication (all of them are gone), I would guess TE was in the deep red.

IMHO,
