Novell showing some green in a sea of red. Looks like some block purchases are underway today in the 100-200K range. =;-)

You nailed it.

Hello Paul!

Yes, I'm very curious myself to see how NOVL would position NDS and the rest of it's product portfolio as an E-Commerce platform.

I mentioned in an earlier post a company called Artifical Life who have created SmartBots (software that tracks and learns a user's preferences and then crawls the web/internet or intranet to bring back relevant info).

I wish something like this would be NDS aware. Plug that into an E-Commerce package and now you have something no?

NDS would manage user info such as User ID, Credit Card info, Shipping address, phone and here's the kicker, purchasing preferences!

Then couple that with a SmartBot that would search a site or sites for items matching the user's purchasing preferences and now you have marketing in the Year 2000.

NOVL might not have the "complete" package for e-commerce it does have some nice parts (NDS and BorderManager and Netscape's Server software).

Also in regard to small businesses, Netware For Small Biz 4.2 is a good start towards that end. It needs to mature more I think but it's a very good start. Especially inticing is the Network Easy Admin Tool, you don't need a degree in physics to manage the network :)

Check this:

There only problem with this solution is it's only good for a branch office. You can not upgrade this into the full NetWare product or attach this to a network with another NetWare server.
