Jim: Thanks for the link to the Motley article. I think the article's comparison of this year's preliminary 20 cents EPS to the 38 cents EPS for 3Q 98 is invalid. As I understand things, the 38 cents figure was before subtracting 7 cents for accounting changes newly mandated by FASB beginning 1 Jan 98 and which I presume are now incorporated in all earnings estimates. I may be wrong, but I think the appropriate number to compare the EPS from 3Q 98 to 3Q 99 is 31 cents. What do you think? Here's the link to the Q3 98 statement: corporate-ir.net Starowl
