Tony,

What server design company do you think is going to entrust the CPU to a company that speaks with forked tongue like this?

I seem to recall a number of conflicting statements from Intel about the 8-way chipset vs. Xeon problem. Product delays bring out the worst in all companies.

Tony,

I just listened to the conference call, and heard them explicitly describe the 400 Mhz problems as "design and process related". Also the comment was made, "there was one speedpath" which kept their speed distribution down.

Someone is spreading misinformation about the conference call.

Tony, the term "mask problem" was used for the lame-brained analysts -- it really describes the solution rather than the problem. The nature of the problem was related more clearly later in the CC. Don't expect Techweb to report such esoterica.
