I'm sure that Emerson's sales staff are top notch people and all, but we must remember that it is the nature of salespeople to be upbeat and enthusiastic about everything. My concern about the decision to get out of TV's and VCR's is this: Is it a capitulation, or is it a strategy move? In other words, did they get out of the video market because they simply couldn't afford to stay in it, or was it that they decided to get out of an overcrowded, low-margin niche and concentrate on more profitable product lines. After all, Microwaves are simpler and cheaper to build than TV's and VCR's. John M.
