Don't think that was it Micahael. Samsung does not, to the best of my knowledge, have a stake in Ampex. A series of events did the damage. Primarily: Their attempt to sell Keepered Media ( which would have been a coup) failed - and the market anticipated that to a striking degree. Also there has also been a steady and severe decline in revenues. Furthermore the original jury verdict in their favor in an important patent litigation was overturned by the judge, and AXC later lost the appeal. The MicroNet acquisition rally was derailed by bad earnings and the word getting out that MicroNet was a severely troubled company ( but they still got it for a song). Index fund selling, tax loss selling, simple silence and the resultant negative momentum all acccelerated the decline.
Now AXC has been repriced for awhile. The way they perform with what they already have + whatever they may acquire + the wild card possibilities of sparks in the market's perception will likely determine where we go from here in the medium to long term.
Fingers, toes and eyes remain crossed here.
