Ron,
I have a thread called Dollar Yen Ambush on SI. The yen was trading 145. The world said the Yen was going to 180. Martin Armstrong said 250. I said 125. No one said that at the time. Consensus was 4.
Of course, they do not want too much too fast. We are know at 113. Way above 125. I stand on what I said. Yen goes to 105 from here.

Bill

Third Chinese Firm in Trouble as China Warns Foreign Creditors

P.S. Ron re: the Euro, I think the European CB's, largely influenced by the Bundesbank old guard and some French goldbugs, wanted and want a very strong Euro. However, the leftist in power want something else altogether. I was fairly certain about the Euro succeeding, now I'm not so sure.

One way or the other though, I think dollar fundamentals are just plain bad. If European currecnies don't function as a safe haven, gold alone will have to.

Ron,
My question isn't up to the theoretical level of this thread, I know,
but could you explain this notion?

<<<And they can always confiscate gold far easier than greenbacks.>>>

Ron,

<And they can always confiscate gold far easier than greenbacks.>
what makes you think so? You need an army of henchmen to confiscate gold from an hostile populace."Greenbacks, Marks,Rubles..." you just declare them invalid with an edict. Not much effort there and that old dirty paper is not worth to do anything with it.You see what I mean.
I have survived the thousand year reich and seen the USSR rotting into itself and even though the good ol USA is still looking mighty good, there are a lot of rotten spots appearing in the woodwork.Just would hate to see it to fall prey to a misery as what we see now in Russia.

Ron;
Just the other day here was posted that Germans wanted Euro rolled out early, maybe mid 2000.

Ron,

<,Thus also my argument for why gold would be a prime target for CB's.>>

Ironically, the more I see them try to control gold, the LESS confidence I have in the paper. The dumbest thing they ever did was try and control gold ... only desperate people do stuff like that .... an (IMHO) incredibly stupid move. Talk about telegraphing desperation .... AG and RR may as well get on CNBC and announce to the world what a mess things are.
