No, but I've done similiar foolish things that have paid off as well.

;)

I'm still convinced that there's more bad news in Brazil's future. Am I being a pessimist or has much of the storm passed us over?

World Bank may consider accelerating Brazil loans

Reuters, Friday, January 15, 1999 at 13:14

WASHINGTON, Jan 15 (Reuters) - The World Bank may consider
accelerating loan payments to help Brazil recover from its
economic crisis, World Bank President James Wolfensohn said on
Friday.
"I would consider it. I may consider it positively, I may
consider it negatively, but I will consider it," Wolfensohn
told reporters during a seminar.
Wolfensohn said he backed Brazilian President Fernando
Henrique Cardoso and his economic plans. "In general I am very
supportive of the Brazilians and I have great confidence in
President Cardoso," he said.
The World Bank has promised to contribute $4.5 billion to a
$41.5 billion international rescue package for Brazil, Latin
America's largest economy.
It has approved payments totaling just over $1 billion, but
has not yet handed over the money because Brazil's Congress has
not yet approved the loan.

This bit with folks handing out needed cash and Brazil's congress not yet having approved the loans continues to amaze me.
