I'm not sure it matters because I don't think the results are going to be anything but a partisan vote, but explain to me the choices they have at the conclusion of the trial. Isn't it guilty or not guilty. In most trials they have two stages. The verdict and then the sentencing. It seems like the defense is focusing on sentencing as if that precedes the verdict or that it is determined simultaneously. As in, yes he did these things but it doesn't rise to the level of impeachable offense so ....so what. Not guilty, a vote not to impeach, or what?

I suppose so. Just hard to take the likes of Schuh, Dipy, et al. talking about hypocrisy when the biggest hypocrite of all still sits in the WH. JLA

They all are forced to sit there quietly and listen to the facts day after day.

I guess it's "No problemo!" for the Dem Senators, because every additional day that the Republicans continue to rant and whine, brings a few more voters on the Democratic side.

At some point, they are going to take a motion to dismiss the whole "pile of dung", as Senator Harkin has already described it, and if it doesn't get the 2/3 vote (at best it could get to 60-40; i.e. 40 in favor of scrapping the whole sh*t, and 60 against), then the Republicans are most welcome to carry on the "show trial" for as loooooooong as they want! It is then in the best interests of the Dem senators to tell Hyde and co., "Take your time! Be our guests!" <G>
