Re: "AMD has officially lost all my, and most analysts's, respect it gained during '98. As Jim said, there's noting to see 'til Feb."

AMD never gained any respect by any analyst during '98. Whenever analysts make predictions and miss (high or low), they get angry. Look at this big baby Ashok Kumar going around badmouthing AMD, after he raises his own estimates about ten cents three days before AMD announces, ON NO NEWS WHATSOEVER. If I were taking investment advice from him, I'd be screaming bloody murder. No wonder he's trying to pass the buck--probably doesn't want to get fired.

As far as nothing to see until February--that doesn't mean the stock won't mve between now and then, up or down.

Cringe - Re: 'As long as the chips aren't there, AMD sucks.
I can't believe my stop-loss was .25 below the intra-day low on earnings day. AMD has officially lost all my, and most analysts's, respect it gained during '98. As Jim said, there's noting to see 'til Feb. "

Well GUESS WHAT, Pal ?

It was YOU that CRINGED, wasn't it !

I told you so !

Can AMD make them? One of the seminal papers in economics was Ken Arrow's "The economics of learning by doing". The longer AMD stays in the game and the larger the production the more efficient they will become in manufacturing. If they keep up unit growth efficiencies will follow. The question for investors is how much equity dilution will take place while the learning process is going on.
