I work for the USPS. (No jokes please!) Capital probably 30-40k. Make less than my day job? How? <g> In the past month, since I'm not able to watch the market during the day, I have left 17k on the table. That's easily more than half of my yearly wages.

This is a key point for people to consider and was a simple tradeoff for me. More control of my time and my day versus the corporate grind and commuting. My target income is my "old" salary but I can live on 1/3 of what I used to make and have been trading full time for 3 years. I found that by eliminating all debt (no mortgage, no car payments) allows me to handle some of the ups and downs better. And I find that more of my income is from short term position trades than day trading and I did try "pure" daytrading for a while. Most of all know what system you plan to trade ... don't just throw darts. I use TA and trade support/resistance levels using stochastics, RSI and Bollinger Bands.
