I was busy trading then and I was glad I had a job to go to.

< Irrational exuberance? How many wanted to quit their day jobs during September, 1998? >

You statement sounds like that of an investor as opposed to a trader. There were great opportunities in Sept/Oct 1998 just that most of them were on the short side. You have to be able to play both sides of the market to trade and if you're not comfortable going short then trading would be tough.
