It is worth saying how I lost 50% in one go.

It was a day recently when Net stocks had been flying for a few days. I wanted in and saw that day traders bid up ONSL and OMKT in pre-trading. I bought, and as I live in Europe and am in the office, went off to do a job. Got back about 40 minutes later and there had been " Profit taking" I had bought at around + 20 ish % and the the two stocks had crashed into the minus -20%. I sold. Gone. That was the biggest learning experience yet. You should monitor your stock in real time to the second if you day trade volitile stocks !

It is easy to lose money when daytrading.

If one hasn't lost, one hasn't traded long enough.

Kind of like the doctor who has never been sued. He has not practiced long enough.

Losses are nothing to be ashamed of. Think of losses as the tuition a trader pays to gain competence.

AND DON'T QUIT THY DAY JOB....YET...

There's really only one way to get screwed and lose a lot of money daytrading--and it only happend to me once in several years. If you aren't holding overnite and you are using good protecitive stops how can you lose a lot money----with a trading halt in the middle of the day. There's no way to avoid it. They are rare but they do exist.
