ATY.to - why u want to be in/buy more on Monday (ATYTF on nasdaq) 1. US market closed 2. ATY did over 10x it's avg daily volm on Friday in Canada 3. ATY did over 60x it's avg daily volm in USA 4. ATY did record volm in Canada - over 9m shs; over 1.2m shs in USA 5. Ky Ho to speak later in week - chk ATYTF msg board 6. That volm on Friday was net BUYING 7. ATY broke it's all time price high - and held it! 8. Technically, ATY could be at $30-35Cdn/$25US within 2 months - we may even be surprised and see that much sooner 9. Volm in US shows interest for first time in major way (aside from IPO - which I harped on). 10. Now analysts are likely to come out with reports soon. That US shorter calling ATY to go to $8 Cdn in his Sept report was flat out wrong as ATY held it's own in its core graphics chips & boards market To quote that analyst: "It appears then, that the 'street' model assumes flat ASPs, flat costs and flat market share for desktop graphics boards and graphics chips, and flat ASPs & costs for laptop graphics chips.... However, for all the reasons we have discussed, it seems highly unlikely that ATY can match the 'street's' expectations. ATY SHOULD LOSE SHARE AS PRICES FALL. EVEN WITH A SUCCESSFUL DIVERSIFICATION INTO 2 NEW MARKETS (laptop and set-top box), THE COMPANY WILL HAVE A DIFFICULT TIME MEETING THE STREET'S REVENUE AND EARNINGS ESTIMATES OVER THE NEXT 12 MONTHS' That US analyst was flat out wrong. Now, it's very likely other US analysts enter the picture. I'll put money on it (in fact I already have through owning ATY) these new analysts don't call for ATY to go to $8 Cdn! Perhaps we get H&Q to cover ATYTF, but as they brought BRCM public they will likely dismiss ATYTF, so no need to worry if H&Q does not cover, there are several other firms without a potential 'conflict'. ATY beat estimates without much from the workstation and set-top markets this past quarter - just wait until those kick in in '99. ATY will do well in set tops as they now own Chromatics (system on chip) AND through partnership with NEWBRIDGE NETWORKS and it's affliates such as PixStream (love that Waterloo tech triangle). Check the co out if you wish. This is one of the tech co's you've got to own!
