Christopher and Satish: I think you boys are wasting your time here. I have made statements basically identical to Satish's

I usually decide what to buy based on FA but when to buy is mostly based on TA. So, you see I am in both the camps.

and my own description

"Fundamentals" and "Technicals" are not independent of one another - charts are a graphic representation of perceived changes in the fundamentals.

a more than a few times, but victor doesn't seem to be able to grasp the concept. He also thinks that TA is based on mathematical and/or statistical voodoo rather than on psychology. I find him to be very closed minded about the whole subject - nothing but an effete snob.

You can't make statements about something you don't know anything about.

Yeah, right - wanna bet? On the other hand though, I usually enjoy his OT posts very much.

jajajajaja

Christopher: Ever heard of a straw man? It's something you set up in an argument so you can then knock it down. Like arguing with yourself. You just did it.

Actually I have quite enjoyed your past TA comments, I found them lucid and interesting. However, I think your definition of TA as requiring most of your time on FA self-contradictory.

I agree with Victor and this shouldn't really be a debate. It is part of the definitions of the DIFFERENT types of ananlysis. Technical analysis is the study of patterns and fundamental analysis is the study of external and internal factors. They are very different and there is no similarity in their true form. Many people will do both, but victor is correct IMHO. If you spend some of your time studying the fundamental analasys of whatever, then that is what you are doing, not studying the technical analysis of said subject.
They are different
FWIW
