trading for a living is not as easy as it sounds......you first have to get your butt kicked and if you survive that you might be able to make a go of it.

don't let your winners turn into losers
don't chase stocks
don't try to get even on a losing trade
leave the emotions and ego out
and i could go on and on and on

I have a similar philosophy of life as you do....

>but I despised corporate politics, rush hour commuting, long hours.
Dissatisfaction with current job has led me to think of this.

I spent 4 years planning for my transition ... eliminating all debt ...
I live with NO OVERHEAD, Friends think I"m weird, but I like to think of it as a way to be able to jump on an oppty when it comes around.
Personally, I'd rather have a huge cash buffer and no rent than
a mortage, 2 car payments, and kids. Makes for easier peace of mind.
But then again Im still very young.

Yes, who says one needs to make as much as the day job?
There's more to life than money (like golfing 9 holes every day! I couldn't even imagine!!)
