TJ... Replacing a 166, 'eh? Boy, are you in for a nice suprise! : )

I got my Dell last March... 333 PII, 128 ram, 8.4 HD, 32X CD, 8mg Diamond Permedia AGP, Altec Lansing 495's USB w/sub woofer, Yamaha sound, and the Dell D1226H 19" monitor. It replaced a DX2 66 dinosaur. Blew me away!

Although, I think it's already becoming obsolete. They progress too fast dang it!

TJ,

I'm not sure if you've owned a Dell before but in a position I left recently I was responsible for taking care of all the PC's. The company as a whole decided to go w/ Dell's. They were fast on delivery, easy to setup, and the best service of any company I had dealt w/ in the past. You've made a good choice IMO. No new computer since 93 - you deserve this new then! (And I'm sure your wife will enjoy the HK speakers...)

Good evening TJ,

Very new to the thread and still in lurker mode. Congrats on the new system.

You indicated "And of course, a 21" Monitor." Just curious, during the trading day, what all do you keep open on all that real estate along with S.I.?

Do you use Level II? Do you have a separate news service? A web broker?

Thanks for your help.

B.M.

Wow , see ask a question and there are 4-5 replies before you can respond. I agree with you on the premium for the 450mhz. When you think about it it's only about an 11% increase in speed. I just assembled a PII 400 100mhz bus, 128MB ram 32sp CD rom Soundblaster 128, 8.4G HD and a ZIP drive. May add the DVD when the price comes down a bit. I still havn't got the cable hooked up to the ATI video board yet (somebody borrowed my cable tools & parts). Bet you'll really enjoy the new stuff. I love hardware! I envy that 21" monitor I'm using a 17" NEC 5FGe ... good monitor but the eyes could go for a larger one. Maybe later this year if I can get more profitable on these trades.

TJ, Dell:

Dell uses Trinitron tubes in their monitors so there is not much difference. Their systems are rock solid. Good choice.
