I believe that I am going to make a foray into day trading; at least parttime. I write software as a consultant, out of my house so I don't have to quit my job, just rebalance.

As far as tobacco goes, my belief is that if all of the tobacco farmers were put out of work, there would be other opportunities to use there fields etc. In addition, the money people spend for tobacco products, additional health care and so forth would be available to the economy for other purposes. It is doubtful that the farmers and others in the industry would make as much money but that is a different issue. They are still profiting from harming society. However, if I had no other options but to sell tobacco, I'm not sure I could stand on the same moral highground.
