Ibexx,

There are two schools of thought on the PC business for 1999:

One school thinks we will have tremendous demand in 1H99 due to Y2K and a dead 2H99. The 2H99 will be dead because companies will be installing their new PC's and not buying additional units.

The second school thinks we will have good demand all year long because small business will not upgrade their PC's until they absolutely have to before year end. The thinking goes that they will be buying in 2H99.

On the Intel conference call, they discussed these two schools thought but said it was too early for them to say which school would be more accurate.

From my understanding of many in small business, things like this are done on an "as needed" basis. This will hit them in 2H99.

Do you have any thoughts or ideas on the subject?

Best,

Duncan

I read some months ago that Europe expects a 30% increase in PC sales this year to companies seeking to circumvent the y2k problem. This plus all of the other info I am picking up tells me Dell should be able to sell everything they can build.
