Just to let you all know that the availability of ANY junk silver LEGAL TENDER coinage in the area where I live Eastern Massachusetts is practically NIL! The guy in Southern New Hampshire that I deal with had a grand total of about 40 halfs, 6 quarters, and maybe 8 dimes left! I bought all the quarters and 30 of the halfs as well as 5 more
Silver Eagles and 4 more 1/10 oz. Gold Eagles. He said the only reason that he had plenty of Silver Eagles was the 50% premium on those coins discouraged buyers. He said he had more "Y2K people" coming in and buying $5000 worth of silver at a crack. It is as if someone rang a bell going into the Holidays because he had a decent junk silver inventory before that. He chided me for not picking up my laid-away silver then. I told him the money I was anticipating for pay for it never came (dammit!).

ole 49r's atonement for having been overly greedy is indeed remarkable and exemplary, don't you think?
