Okay, time for a fun contest.

What will the earnings number be next Monday?

First Call range is .20 to .22, median .21
Jim is on record as projecting .22, but he can change that.
Me: I'm going out on a limb and saying .23
I know Starowl will respond, so am putting his name in waiting for a number.

The prize: plaudits and applause. And maybe an email-generated Certificate of Merit, suitable for trashcanning.

So: Current voting, subject to changes up to close of market Monday:

chodgkin: .23
Jim Switz: .22
Starown:

Any others?

For the record, the FC dump to JNI has been completed. That just about finishes the restructuring begun last September and positions the conference call next Monday for a clean slate discussion of the company. No outstanding, nagging little problems dangling and creating uncertainty. And Adpatec will still assist in marketing and manufacturing, while having transferred the real meat of that business.

"SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 1999--JNI (formerly known as Jaycor Networks Inc.) Tuesday announced that it has completed its acquisition of Adaptec Inc [Nasdaq:ADPT - news]. Fibre Channel assets, including intellectual property, patents, product lines and development plans, as well as staff in San Jose and Irvine, Calif.

"As part of the relationship, Adaptec and JNI have entered into joint manufacturing and sales relationships to support current customers and expand the market for Fibre Channel products."
