Why is the K7 not shipping today? What is a Q/A cycle for? Surely you are aware that the first prototypes, even from Intel, of a major new design have many things that do not work. Usually, they are said to be minor, but whether they are minor or not depends upon what you are trying to use the for. I have even heard of a chip maker that let a chip go out the door that could not multiply. Multiply is a common function! Isn't your surprise a little overdone?

RE:"Well if they are "buggy and not pushed for speed" they aren't
anywhere near ready for production. If what you say is true then
the K7 could be a long way off. Who was it that was telling us
months ago that the K7 was much closed to production then we
realized? Wasn't it Jim? My apologies if I remembered
incorrectly. Also we're still waiting for that blowout demo at
Comdex we were promised last year. Afraid that didn't happen
either. Just a Godzilla DVD that my Celeron can do. Maybe they
meant Comdex of THIS year."....

Eh, Elmer...ah...don't be surprised if production has already started on the K7. You're getting warm Elmer, hinty, hinty, winky, winky.
Of course perhaps you might want to tell us just how many K7 wafers
AMD would have to start before you considered it "production".
