NW Your Guys Had a Second Half Yesterday, Fan, <G> I don't think TechData's $13 Billion in sales is going to account for Ingrams loss of 30% of its business, since Ingram is double the size and still growing faster. <G> Tech Data's quarter doesn't end until the last of Feb, so they have a while to coast on without talking about what was a horrible December. But, as Fred Hickey points out so elegantly, growth at TechData has already hit the skids. Revenue growth was 32% first quarter, 19% second, and 7% in the most recent report. I can't wait to see this next disaster.

Merisel was the first of the distributors to hit the nail on the head about what caused their miss. Commercial sales growth has dried up. Despite all the fart and tickle about retail sales, business sales are the name of the game and there ain't any.

About the total pc market, I have no doubt. Final sales growth rates are slipping into oblivion. I strongly suspect that Dell will reflect this fact of life. I doubt that Gateway will, as they are mostly consumer sellers. Overpriced sellers of poorly made boxes, but still on the retail side.

NWBF:
So far, the whole business reseller sector is batting 1000 (i.e. reduced demand, reduced revenues, etc.). Sounds vaguely familiar somehow. (g)

Thanks for the URL.

Best, Earlie
