They can't create two classes of shareholders, those getting $6 and those getting, say, $8.

Who, exactly, would want to be in the $6 class? Those who voted against the merger?

But if the current proposal goes through, what can dissenters expect?

$6/share! No one gives you a prize for being in the minority. I bought for the arbitrage myself, but I'll vote "no" for the potential increase (I'm still pissed about their "will be over in three month" statement--it's been much longer than that). With my luck, the stock'll go up four points a day before the Feb 7.5 calls I sold expire. . .
