I can't imagine what the person you quoted as saying the above was thinking. CD's are easier to duplicate than removable media? Since when? And is a CD actually any easier to carry than a Zip disk? I don't think so.

It is true, of course, that CD-ROM drives are available on almost every modern computer, though, which makes for great data portability. However, I've encounterd older computers which didn't have CD-ROM drives. They did have parallel ports, though, which meant that hooking up a Zip drive was no problem.
