USA Today, Jan. 22, 1999 news on USAT

In the financial section, pg 3. The article 'Managing Your Money' by Sandra Block briefs several Internet mutual funds. One section deals with 'WWW Internet Fund'. Extracts follow...

"[WWW Internet Fund] divides the stocks in its portfolio into three groups, 'mature'... 'midlife'... and 'adolescent'. ... When [fund managers Lawrence] York and [James] Greene shop for Internet stocks, they look for companies that offer a product or service that isn't available anywhere else. ... One example of a company that meets their criteria is USA Talks, the fund's largest holding. The company, which offers long-distance telephone service over the Internet, has seen its stock soar more than 800% since August. But it has yet to report a profit."
"USA Talks 'isn't something we typically would invest in,' York says. 'But the technology is here, it works, and what they're doing is something that's probably going to generate a lot of business.'"

...end of extract

The WWW Internet Fund website lists USA Talks at the top of their "Top Five Picks" in the 'adolescent' group.
