Maybe this is another reason: Sotheby's joins Internet craze with online auction biz.yahoo.com But note that the site is not up yet, and as far as I see they are only starting to look into this, making an initial investment of $25 million. They are hoping to start by this summer... Their entry into on-line marketing is actually long overdue, and their product mix doesn't compete directly with OnSale's, so any impact they will have in the short term will be indirect and potentially positive. -M-
