As for the spin, I agree. We do tend to over-spin things here in a positive fashion.
However, SB parties don't equate to viewership levels, which are monitored by Neilsen. You could have 500 people in a Neilsen household, and it may not register. There are hundreds of thousands of people in bars, hotels, parties...etc. However, Neilsen can't measure them accurately. It is a well known flaw.
That said, ratings for SBs DO vary, and very often they vary dependent on the teams that are appearing....
There are some teams that inspire viewership...Green Bay, Dallas, Miami, San Fran. Then there is a second tier...Denver, Oakland, Pittsburgh, Chicago (though they only appeared once, they have a strong following).
After that, it's a toss up whether people give a damn or not.
