Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but if you are selling at market, you are HOPING to sell at the bid. The MMs can drop the bid on you, by processing smaller sell orders, then trigger your sell at the new lower bid.

John L.,

Chances are you will loose quite a lot if you just put it in at the 'market'. Sometimes it goes through at an honest price but that is a real gamble. Put in the actual price you want but if you want to have it trade fast, put it in at the ask or bid depending if you are buying or selling. Maybe you have seen those 'spikes' on the graphs, those are often 'markets'. Small quantities may go fair, larger quantities get taken to the cleaners.
