Anecdotal evidence. Some groups are having departmental parties team building events. These had been cancelled the last couple years for cost reasons. TP

Most domestic units are having a great year. Some marketing units were told not to worry about booking more business in the 4th qtr, concentrate on the 1st half of '99. That means they either have more than they need or they missed the numbers and will worry about next year. I think they are making the numbers...big! Was told by some IBMers they were miffed because their earnings were "capped". Beat their original quota by a bunch and were not going to make as much as they thought they should. That means IBM is trying to balance expense to profit ratio. Could mean profits are not as good as they would like, or expenses (commissions and salary) are higher then they projected. I think it is the later. Long and looking good!
