SBAS prelim...looks like strong growth here:
StarBase Announces Strong Revenue Growth and
Operating Results

SANTA ANA, Calif., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- StarBase Corporation (Nasdaq: SBAS - news), a leading provider of Internet
and intranet based technical collaboration and software configuration management tools, today announced preliminary operating
results for the third fiscal quarter ending Dec. 31, 1998. StarBase management anticipates that revenue for the fiscal third
quarter will be between $1.90 and $1.95 million. This represents at least 190 percent growth over the same period last year
and 16 percent growth over the second quarter of this fiscal year. For the nine-month period ending Dec. 31, 1998, revenue is
expected to be at least $4.70 million, approximately 245 percent above the $1.36 million reported for the same period last
year. Furthermore, operating expenses for the third quarter are estimated to be between $3.60 and $3.65 million, down 10
percent from the second quarter of this fiscal year. The company expects to formally announce the results of operations for the
third quarter ended Dec. 31, 1998, by the second week of February.

''The company's strong operational results are a reflection of our focus on revenue growth and profitability,'' stated William R.
Stow III, chairman and chief executive officer of StarBase. ''The combination of higher revenues, approximately 95 percent
gross margin, and lower operating expenses should result in an approximate 25 percent decrease in net loss for the third
quarter, a strong step toward our goals of revenue growth and profitability. These improved operating results were achieved
with more than 90 percent of revenues representing sales to new customers. We believe that a significant number of our existing
customer base is awaiting the release of StarTeam 4.0 before ordering new product. With the anticipated release of StarTeam
4.0 Enterprise next month we expect repeat business to accelerate once again, as we penetrate deeper into the growing
installed base of customers. In addition, since StarTeam 4.0 is an enterprise level solution, the company believes that our trend
toward larger purchases by customers is also expected to accelerate revenue growth.''
