From what I've heard about other's and my experience I'd say Datek is near the top of the list for you basic online brokerage, but as you say no one is perfect. Short's tend to like Datek for stock availability seems better than most. I think they've been tightening their rules for classifying a stock non-marginable. Marginable stocks require 30% min, 5% better than someothers mentioned. Datek only has Amex, NASDAQ and NYSE, no BB or options. If I were a daytrader I'd definitly consider MB Trading (they have a thread here also).
