This is a tough question to answer. Despite popular belief, it is neither what you buy nor when you buy it that matters the most (that is if you have a well balanced portfolio), but it is you investment time horizon that matters the most.

It is my opinion that in 5 years there will be only 5 graphics card companies (down from the current 20 or so). And I believe that 3Dfx (as well as ATI) will be one of the survivors. Based on this, I estimate that 3Dfx should own at least 20% of the graphics market in 5 years and given that that market itself is expected to have double digit growth during this time, then TDFX is a good buy at the moment, *if* you are willing to hold on to it for at least 3 years and accept the volatility.

Good luck,
