Nitrous Oxide [N2O] is an ingredient in rocket fuel formulations, used because it's very stable at ordinary temperatures but packs a tremendous wallop upon combustion. It's also Laughing Gas, and an analgesic/anesthetic/asphyxiant depending on exposure.

A vaporous liquid contained under pressure, generally unsuitable for piston engines. Nitroglycerine is preferred for race cars.
