European (net - i.e. ex. VAT) prices are generally slightly higher than US, but Dell's site quote substantial higher prices.

The Dell'ites here find it sacrilage to complain about anything Dell, but the fact is that if I'm in Europe and want to buy a brand name PC Dell is not very competitive to, say, Gateway or Compaq. On top of that, although the general PC growth rate is reportedly around 30% we Europeans are much more likely to buy a no-name PC or even build our own, i.e. you cannot expect Dell to get a slice of those 30% equivalent of what they might have expected for US sales.
