Greenspan mentioned that the gov should NOT be involved with investing social security monies in private sector. He was very polite in saying that in effect the large number of political appointees would find that power too tempting tied up with campaign contribution (bribes). I personally could see Al Gore preventing investments in any oil comnpanies because of global warming.

The major part of Clintons approach according to Greenspan is to get SS fully funded like a normal pension plan. I agree 100000000000%. The private investment part is a bad idea for sure ig government gets involved. Heck, why not simply make all savings tax free.
