Off topic -- Greenspam opposing Gov in market

I cannot see why the government would want to invest in the market.

An investor buys a piece of a firm expecting to share in the prospects of that firm. Since the government can share in the prospects of any firm by using a tax grab, they have no need to make the investment.

Government ownership of industry is called Socialism. Greenspan is likely opposed to it because, for whatever his faults, he believes in Capitalism.
Even a few percentage points of SS money would make the Feds a major player in the market. Do you believe that the Government WOULD NOT exert influence on companies in which they had significant ownership?

Who should run Dell? Mikey? Or some nameless group of bureaucrats trying to satisfy the political agenda de jur?
