I would certainly prefer the former. I guess what I didn't communicate well is that either type is unsuitable for those who aren't highly self motivated. The first type is a tremendous resource to those who are past needing the structure of lessons. The second type is oh-for-two. He obviously leads a structured life (witness the snappy dress) but fails in transferring that structure into a lesson plan.

There is so much more to teaching than merely knowing.
