I use30k. I usually make one to two trades a day. I momentum trade and have been rather successful at it. I find that the quicker I am out the better. My rule is also 3/8s of a point in the other direction and I'm gone. However let me explain what happen to me today. I was watching this stock DCLK all day, it hit 112 and then slowly started selling off, down then a little up then down. At 97 3/16 I short 200 shares naturally after it was a little up. It jumps to 98 1/2 I shoot a market order to dump I get filled at 97 3/4. One minute later it continues a rather rapid rate of fall eventually closing at 87 3/4, I think that when dealing with this Internet high flying crap perhaps the rule should be dump at over a point...Just my opinion also think this shorting crap is for the birds, but if you are going to daytrade it has to be used. For some reason, maybe its just me, but there is a lot more tension involved with shorting..I will do it again tomorrow, or today.
