We tend to overestimate the importance of minor news announcements to share price, partly because we have so much to gain by a response, and partly because we are more sensitive to the implications of the news than the general market. There are no numbers attached to this press release, and we have to assume that actual revenues are insignificant -- the significance is the potential for this deal and others like it in the future. We will see share price response when we get to the next stage on these online banking projects. Rollouts. That is still about a year away.

Frankly, for this kind of consumer-based application, it is hard to understand why the bank would use the F3 instead of the IDT product. Almost certainly this one was already in the works before the merger announcement, and would have happened with or without Identicator onboard. Maybe in Peru the online consumers are the rich, and they can afford this Cadillac product. I don't assume that IDX has provided a cut-rate deal to the Peruvian bank.

As to the merger, I don't believe this event has any relevance. My information (which I trust), is that the merger is proceeding on-track.

Lack of response to this morning's announcement may have partly to do with the fact that it hasn't hit any of the major national news wires yet (DJ or Reuters). We are also in the midst of an earnings announcement period; possibly traders are not paying attention
to relatively "minor" press releases? -just a guess.
