*Totally OT* You are confusing (perhaps) two different headlines: (1) Quayle IS running for prez (2) Fiber does not prevent colon cancer !(gosh, have I wasted a lot of money on fiber over the years!)..

Don't be mistaken: Quayle will be THE conservative Republican candidate.....He is serious, and his machine will be well-oiled.......his support will be strong....the longer he stays in the primaries..the worse Bush/Dole will look...ultimately, he will drop out...but if he is in until the convention, the Republicans will blow any chance of winning the election, IMO...

Remember, Gore will be able to sit back and stay "above the fray" and pick on the weakest points that Repub. candidates expose in each other...I doubt seriously that, by July 2000, dissatisfaction with Clinton/economy will be so bad that there will be any sort of incumbent backlash (like with Bush)...Recession simply not on the horizon....

Don't worry.....Quayle is unelectable; He is simply not a bright man...One does not have to spend a lot of time listening to him to notice that without his standard lines....he has lots of trouble thinking on his feet....(Doesn't mean he can't be good guy, though)..

Sure Gore is dull and has an odd cadence (and I should know, I am from his home state!)...but he is bright.....and, most importantly, he exposes no major weaknesses (unlike Clinton)..he has seen (and benefitted from Clinton's move to the middle.....Repubs are going to have a tough time making more room in the middle.....)..He's going to be hard to beat, IMO....
