Your question is a good one. I phrased my post poorly.

The exchange asks TWX "There is a rumor circulating that you
are going to buy CDNW. Have you consumated an agreement with
CDNW?" TWX replied: "We do not comment on rumors."

In other words, no there is no "done deal". IF there were a deal
completed and the word was leaking out, TWX would be obligated to
announce it so all investors had the same information.

Could TWX & CDNW be talking? Yes. As long as they were discussing
the possibility of a merger, a joint venture, a contract, or anything else their response was perfectly legal & appropriate.

My intent was to question a previous post here to the effect that "the deal could be announced as early as tomorrow." To me, that implies there is a deal, it's completed and the only thing left is deciding when to announce it. The company's response indicated there is no deal to announce.

After their merger with AHP collapsed, MTC stated that they would
continue to pursue merger possibilities. If I owned the stock & I
rather strongly implied a deal was done & the announcement was imminent, IMO that would be self-serving and inaccurate.
(I don't own MTC nor do I know of any deal).

I've always enjoyed reading/posting here on S.I. . IMO it is a great
place to exchange ideas, opinions and facts. The vast majority of folks here seem to be very sincere. Personally, I'd be dissappointed
to see it degenerate into a "hot! hot! hot!" rumor mill.

Regards,

Doug
