Carter is mentioned in today's history books as a compassionate but erring chief executive. Under his watch we had a gasoline shortages, a cold war, 400 day hostages, double digit inflation, double digit unemployment, and 18% interest rates.

Reagan is currently mentioned as a supply sider/tax cutter who fixed each and every ill Carter brought us.

In years to come he will also be credited with the long term sustained economic growth we have today, IMO.
