<So, even Tom Pabst thinks the K6-3-450 will beat the Pentium III 500 to market, and beat it in benchmarks.>

Like I said before, Tom's mood changes with the wind. After the last Microprocessor Forum, Tom was totally entranced by the K7 foils. He even suggested selling INTC and buying AMD at the time. Using hindsight, which is always 20/20, we now know that selling INTC would have been awfully stupid.

In the past couple of weeks, Tom's mood regarding AMD changed to disenchanted. This was probably brought on by that K6-2 400 "mask problem," the AFR66 incident, and his own feelings that the K6-3 may be late. Plus, his own benchmarks showing Celeron 366 outperforming the K6-2 400 sure didn't dispel his negative attitude towards AMD.

I guess Tom's negative comments regarding AMD prompted Dana Krelle from AMD marketing to give Tom a call and assure him that all is well in Sanders-land. Now Tom is once again singing to the tune of the AMD K6-3 and K7.

Herr Uberclockermeister runs an excellent and informative web site. Yet I feel that he is rather temperamental in his opinions and predictions for the industry.
