I expect more forethought from a CEO when he makes an announcement of this caliber. If you wish to debate it further, please post your rebuttal. I'd really like to read it.

First, listen to the interview with Jodie Glore today at 12:00 EST at vcall.com. Then, tell me your impressions (in particular, any change in your attitude (if any) about Jodie Glore's qualifications) and I'll be happy to have a rational, hopefully logical discussion about it.

Dave

Sorry rll,

Anyone who posts opinions that don't agree with the group 'dreamworld' view of the world gets run off the thread.

This behavior is very well documented in many good books. It is very damaging and destructive behavior. it also can be very evil. It amazes me how this thread matches the textbooks perfectly. I've been thinking about writing a paper...

The reason groups form (like this one) is that people don't want to be investing alone. It's too scary. So what they do is form/join groups with people of similar views, mainly to try to feel better about their position. When they start feeling down, they join the group again to get a boost. The Utopia is when there is no challenge to the beliefs. This helps people sleep at night. (who cares if the investment sucks, there's other people suffering with them!).

When someone posts something that doesn't agree with their views, they immediately become the 'enemy'. They actually lay fault on the stock behavior on this person! The truthsayer is the enemy, when the real enemy is actually their cohorts on the thread. In any group their is always a 'policeman', a 'leader', several active participants and tons and tons of lurkers/followers. Funny thing is, the more the truthsayers post their views, the more the people on the thread get emotionally attached to the stock. Most would rather see it go to zero than take the chance that it will rocket right after they sell it. (sound familiar??)

One interesting thing to note: Stocks usually move in the OPPOSITE direction of the prevailing view of a thread.

A little food for thought...

have a great weekend everyone!

rll, as an IOM bull, let me say I welcome your posts. No one here is truly objective about IOM, and it is probably an impossible thing to ask for. Nevertheless, I think your posts are just what this thread needs to help keep us bulls on our toes. You make the cut in my book as an honest IOM bear. As you may know, I don't think very much of some of the other IOM bears, mainly because they either have severe emotional problems or hidden agendas.

I bought back in IOM today because I truly believe 1999 will be a banner year for them. The 1998 revenue didn't bother me as much because they were in a fight to the death to get Zip into boxes. That drive revenue was down while disk sales and revenues were up is a great positive to me. If it had been the other way around, I would not have bought back in at this time, but rather would have waited for Clik to prove itself. Because I believe Zip disk sales are finally kicking in, I'm willing to take a chance again. Emotionally, it also helped a lot that I avoided the overnight drop.

I don't know if there are any more home runs left in IOM, but there is at least a double from 8 to 16, based on Clik (expectations or reality - the money's the same).

Any way, keep on posting here, and good luck to you.
