I think your investment experience is a little bit "limited".

Come back in about 10 years and then tell me otherwise.

I've worked in these fields for over 30 years and know a gem when I see one. I don't have to convince anyone. I'm very satisified with Cisco's performance. They totally rule the Internet, the numbers prove that anyway you want to look at it!

With Cisco's lead going into the new second generation Internet they will pull away from the pack! JMHO!

Regards,

Eric

BR, >>>CSCO is the next micron in making. Remember everyone so bullish on how much
memory they were going to sell and took micron to 95, then sky fell on micron,
pricing and competition and collapse to 18.<<<

Micron is in the most commodity mainstream product that there is in the electronics world. DRAM is relatively easy to make, as chips go, and overrun, albeit in an expert way for decades by many Asian countries who have a history of overproducing and then dumping. It's amazing to me that MU stock price goes up the way it does, when it does. Cisco, OTOH, is probably into the least commodity-like, and least understood of the major major IT product markets. I mean, IBM isn't even into it. Tell me another major IT market that Blue hasn't gone after.

>>>All your ROUTER dreams get routed to the ground when you realize
that all CSCO can do sell some junk commodities to the cable companies begging
for few dollars.<<<

This sounds something like when IBM, Motorola and Apple were going to trounce Intel with their Power PC. Never happened because Intel is far too nimble, and paranoid, as is Cisco, from all I can see so far.

>>>Only reason I am posting this is a rebuttal for your stupid statement of CSCO is
worth more than LU and ASCEND together.<<<

Wasn't this just a statement about relative market caps? Your rant seems completely overdone as a retort to such a benign comparison.

Tony

Bindusagar, before you make foolish observations like this you might want to check the respective companies' 10-Ks and 10-Qs, especially cash flows. If you do this analysis you might be surprised. Look at cash flow (EBITDA is a good surrogate but add back those one-time charges), and look at profit margins. These numbers are not the hallmark of commodity products for either company. My back of the envelope scratchings show that CSCO has the edge in cash flow, but that neglects future growth. I suspect that growth will look good for both, which is why I am invested in both. To take the attitude of us vs. them is downright silly, and adds little to a meaningful discussion.

Remember that the slam against Dell has always been that it is just a commodity manufacturer, but who cares? If these companies can turn in that kind of growth with those kinds of commodity margins and free cash flow I would be thrilled!

Even 'technomorons' like me know that there is a convergence of technologies currently taking place. And even I know that data networks and telephony represent a tremendously growing fields that are becoming increasingly intertwined. That's where I have placed my bets. But since I don't have all the answers I have invested in three thoroughbreds (ASND/LU, CSCO and TLAB), each with distinctly different emphases. But I expect that convergence will begin to obscure a lot of those differences, and perhaps winners will emerge. But my guess is that the business is so big that all three will be winners.

CTC

BR,

I know for fact that a number of ASND's talent engineers are ready to jump ship to either start-up or CSCO. You seem not one of them as indicated from your posts. I also heard CSCO is opening the door for those top engineers but the only top engineers. Again you seem not belonging to that category.
